CUMSA MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

We  invite you to join the College and University Mail Services Association (CUMSA).

CUMSA was established in 1988 as an organization to establish standards, promote ethics, and foster professionalism for campus mail personnel.  Membership is open to all educational institutions that have curriculum leading to an appropriate certificate of degree.

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

CUMSA promotes and maintains high professional standards.  Through annual meetings CUMSA encourages its members to seek professional recognition by obtaining the IPMA Certified Mail Manager designation and administers the testing at annual meetings.  Membership in CUMSA provides excellent networking opportunities with other college and university mail service personnel and provides a forum for discussion of common concerns, problems, ideas, and solutions.

(CUMSA is proud to note that it has the highest number of professionally certified members of any  regional association.)

CUMSA objectives are

*To promote, develop, and unite educational employees.

*To facilitate cooperation and communication between its members.

*To provide a means through which CUMSA members’ knowledge and experience can be united for the benefit of all CUMSA members.

MEMBERSHIP

Member institutions are represented by individuals responsible for and/or managerially associated with the operation of a college or university mail services department and who are directly responsible to and paid directly by the college or university.  Currently 88 institutions hold active memberships in CUMSA and 106 others are associate members.

Both you and your institution can benefit from membership in CUMSA .  Join by completing the attached membership application.  We look forward to your participation in CUMSA.

AFFILIATIONS

CUMSA is affiliated with other regional mail services associations and the National Association of Colleges and University Mail Services (NACUMS).  CUMSA provides a representative each year to NACUMS.  This representative serves on the Board of Directors of NACUMS with all the authority as other elected NACUMS board members.  The role of this representative is to share the concerns and interests of CUMSA on a national level.

CUMSA is a nonpartisan, non sectarian, and a not for profit association.
